“To go to the Olympics, it would be incredible, like, an amazing experience, once-in-a-lifetime, probably," Plain said.

Gabbie Plain, pitcher of the Australia Women’s National Softball Team extended roster who is battling for one of the 15 spots in the Olympic team, was named PAC-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, after a dominating performance in the first weekend of the NCAA season. The University of Washington fireballer pitched a perfect game in the season opener against Southern Utah.

Plain became just the second Husky pitcher in history to pitch a perfect game in the season opener and also be the author of multiple perfect games, joining Danielle Lawrie, who is expected to be on Softball Canada’s Olympic roster for the Tokyo Games. Plain extended her streak to 26 scoreless innings, pitching 15.2 innings over the weekend, posting two wins over Southern Utah and one against UNLV and Dixie State.

Winning the NCAA title with Washington is not the only goal in 2021 for the Australian right-handed pitcher. Plain is one of 23 players in Australia’s preliminary Olympic roster.

“To go to the Olympics, it would be incredible, like, an amazing experience, once-in-a-lifetime, probably," Plain told King5. "So, I think it would just be an amazing experience to have, being there with all the girls, having so much fun and competing at the highest level that you can get in international softball. It would be just incredible."
