Olympic Softball: Australia opens five-game series in Sydney; bad weather cancels USA vs UCF contest
The Aussies are playing five games in five days at Blacktown International Sportspark; while USA had to cancel their televised game against University of Central Florida due to bad weather.

With less than 100 days to the Tokyo 2020 softball opening day, the six participating teams are getting ready for the biggest softball event in 13 years. The Australian Olympic/National Softball Team has opened a five-day, five-game series of intra-squad games at Blacktown International Sportspark. The Aussies are holding their training camp on home soil before heading to Japan for the final weeks of preparation.

Softball Australia's training-camp games are open for fans to attend, free-of-charge. Following games on Friday and Saturday, fans will get the chance to meet the players and wish them well on their next step to the Olympics.

Australia will open the Olympic softball competition against Japan on 21 July at 9 a.m. local time, which will be the first Olympic competition of the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Weather wipes out USA Softball games

The USA Olympic Softball Team had to cancel their game against the University of Central Florida due to inclement weather in the Orlando area. Originally scheduled to take place on 20 April at the UCF Softball Complex -- as part of the 2021 “Stand Beside Her” tour, presented by Major League Baseball (MLB), the team will continue practice sessions at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (where Italy’s Olympic Softball Team is also holding a training camp).

The contest versus UCF was supposed to be USA's first game of the month, since they also had to postpone their four-game series against Italy until further notice, due to travel delays for the European champions.
